 Problem specific troubleshooting

3.1 I have a broken connector on the Power and Control Console.

When you find that the mainboard cannot detect the power sensor, please check the connector of the power and control console is connected on the corresponding port on the mainboard properly and check whether the pins in the connector are broken

It happens that the four-pin connector got damaged when the operator plugs it into the mainboard with the wrong orientation. If you see other components physically damaged at its appearance, please also use this guideline to troubleshoot and potentially for the repair.

  • When you see the connector or other components broken on the PCC, please immediately stop using the stand for any further tests.
  • Make sure to disconnect the thrust stand from the power source before doing any further operation.
  • Please take a picture of the broken connector, zoomed into the defection as much as possible.

  • Your shipping address
  • Your purchase invoice number or shipment record
  • According to the damage and the status, we may offer you spare parts for you to repair or offer an RMA to return for repair.

3.2 I saw sparks on the power control console and my unit stopped measuring voltage and current.

Under the condition of overloading or ESC glitches, the Power and Control Console may generate sparks or even be damaged due to the overwhelmed burst current.

  • Cut off your power supply or disconnect the LiPo battery.
  • Please confirm the polarity of the wire you connect to the lugs on the 1780 power sensor is correct.
  • Approach the Power and Control Console and check if there is any fire marks on the casing, the lugs and its surrounding. If you find any marks, take a picture of it.
  • Connect the PCC back to the mainboard but DO NOT click connect.
  • Go to SETUP tab and check the box “Activate debug mode”
RCbenchmark software activate debug mode
  • Once selected, you shall be able to see the DEBUG tab on the left main menu.
  • Open the Debug tab, then click Connect
RCbenchmark software debug tab connect
  • You will be able to see the connectivity report in the main window. Please copy the whole message.
  • Send a request to support@tytorobotics.com and please include the following info:
    • Subject: PCC sparks and damage
    • Tell us if the PCC is still functional
    • Picture of the damage area
    • Connectivity report in the Debug mode
    • Your shipping address
    • Your purchase invoice number or shipment record
  • According to the damage and the status, we may offer you spare parts for you to repair or offer an RMA to return for repair.

3.3 I had a safety cut-off and found that the burst current reads -166 A even though the motor stops completely.

It is very rare that this happens and it will only occur on a very selected product: the Series 1780 V1. You will see the manual control completely warning and indicates that the burst current safety cut-off is activated.

  • Please confirm the version of the product that you receive: if the Power and Control Console is in an orange plastic box, it is the V1; if the Power and Control Console is in a metal casing box, it is the V2.
  • Go to SETUP tab and check the box “Activate debug mode”
RCbenchmark software check activate debug mode
  •  At the bottom-left of the GUI, you shall be able to see the real-time value of all the measurements including the debug values:
RCbenchmark software debug mode values
  • Make a screenshot of the Burst Current LPF value.
  • Send a request to support@tytorobotics.com and please include the following info:
  • Subject: PCC burst current cutoff
  • Screenshot of the Burst Current value
  • Your shipping address
  • Your purchase invoice number or shipment record
  • Your product may need a reset and we will repair and ship it back to you as soon as possible.

3.4 I have a wrong voltage reading.

LiPo batteries will get discharged overtime and the higher the current is, the lower the voltage will become. If you are using a power supply, the voltage can still decrease slightly during a test. This guideline is valid for the situation where you set a voltage at a certain value and the one measured with our tool has a discrepancy larger than 10%.

  • Disconnect the thrust stand from the power source.
  • Approach the stand and confirm the greenlight inside the Power and Control Console.
  • Please confirm the polarity of the wire you connect to the lugs on the 1780 power sensor is correct.
  • Connect the power to the thrust stand and reduce the voltage below 30 V. Hook a multimeter to measure the voltage between the ESC input polarities.
  • Open the RCbenchmark GUI and click Connect.
  • Go to the Safety Cutoff tab and check if the voltage is under the measuring range.
  • Then open the Manual control tab.
  • Use continuous recording to generate a CSV file that contains 1-minute record of the voltage reading
  • Compare the value indicated on the power supply, on the multimeter and with the Power and Control Console.
  • If the value measured with the Series 1780 is the same as the one on the multimeter, it indicates a potential failure on your power supply.
  • If the voltage measured with the Series 1780 is fluctuating or not the same with the one on the multimeter, please take a picture of the value shown on the multimeter and on your power supply.
  • Send your request to support@tytorobotics.com and please indicate the following info:
    • Subject: PCC voltage discrepancy
    • The CSV file showing the measured voltage
    • A picture of your power supply and the value on the multimeter
    • Your purchase invoice number or shipment record
  • We will provide further instructions.

4. Problems persist?

In general, the Power and Control Console V2 is designed to measure properly the voltage and current and it is reliable on the measurement.

We support all issues related to the measurement tools itself, and we can provide limited support regarding your test setup and power-train selection. If you need extended support for your specific tests, manufacturing facility or UAV, contact us at sales@tytorobotics.com. We offer extended support contracts including phone and video conference at affordable rates.

To obtain a solution to your problem faster, please indicate which troubleshooting steps you have already done. Also, include the debug log from the software. If relevant, please also include screenshot or pictures of the issue.

4.1 Cross-reference to other types of problem

  • SITMDG: incorrect current and voltage can lead to measurement discrepancies
  • SGGEGI: electrical power is a key factor that affects the efficiencies

4.2 Cross-reference from other types of problem

  • SITESC: ESC needs to be connected to the PCC before reaching the power source
